Geography

At 581,730 km square, Botswana is the world's 46th-largest country (after Madagascar). It is comparable in size to France, and about four and half times larger than England.

Botswana is predominantly flat, tending toward to gently rolling tableland. The Kalahari Desert in located in the southwest of the country, whilst Gaborone, the capital, is situated in the southeast.

Botswana is dominated by the Kalahari Desert, which covers up to 70% of the land surface of the country. The Okavango Delta, the world's largest inland delta, is in the Northwest, composed of vast grass flats, low tree-covered ridges and lagoons. The Makgadikgadi Pan, a large salt pan lies in the North.
