At 801,590 sq km (309,475 sq mi) Mozambique is the world's 35th-largest country (after Namibia). It is comparable in size to Turkey, and over 3 times the size of the United Kingdom.

Located in south-eastern Africa, the country is bordered by:

• Tanzania (north)
• The Indian Ocean (east)
• Swaziland and South Africa (southwest)
• Zimbabwe (west)
• Malawi and Zambia (northwest)
