Provinces
São Tomé and Príncipe is divided into 2 provinces: Príncipe and São Tomé. The provinces are further divided into seven districts; six are located on the main island of São Tomé while one (Pagué) covers the smaller island of Príncipe.
The seven districts are shown below, with their capitals shown in brackets.
- Água Grande (São Tomé)
- Cantagalo (Santana)
- Caué (São João dos Angolares)
- Lembá (Neves)
- Lobata (Guadalupe)
- Mé-Zóchi (Trindade)
- Pagué (Santo António)
Note: Príncipe has had self-government since April 29, 1995.
