Local specialities include bream, Nile perch and other freshwater fish. Traditional foods include:
- Dobe (fresh maize)
- Inswa (termites)
- Ifishimu (caterpillars)
- Chiwaya cho kazinga (roasted maize)
- Nshima (ground maize - also known as mielie-meal)
- Vimbombo va nkhuku ( a delicacy made from chicken's feet)
- Munkoyo (a fermented root and corn powder drink)
Imported beers and soft drinks are available.
