The culture of Antigua and Barbuda is predominantly British, which is evident throughout many aspects of the society. American popular culture also has a heavy influence. Family and religion play an important role in the lives of Antiguans.
Sport
Cricket is very popular in Antigua and Barbuda, along with most Commonwealth nations. The 2007 Cricket World Cup was hosted in the West Indies in 2007, and Antigua hosted a number of matches at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground, which holds 20,000 people at full capacity.
Football (soccer) is also a very popular sport and Antigua has a national football team. Athletics is also big in Antigua. In the schools from a young age, talented athletes are trained and Antigua has produced some adept athletes, such as Sonia Williams and Heather Samuel who have represented Antigua at the Olympic Games.
