There are charter flights between islands, with the journey from Nassau to Georgetown (Exuma) taking 40 minutes; to Governor's Harbour (Eleuthera) 30 minutes; to Freeport (Grand Bahama) 40 minutes and to Marsh harbour (Abaco) 45 minutes.

A mail boat also serves the Out Islands leaving Nassau several times a week and taking approximately 11-13 hours. Bahamas Fast Ferries also operates services from Nassau to Exuma, Eleuthera, Andros and Abaco, taking about 2 hours.

Drivers over the age of 25 may hire a car, and firms may be found at the airports and in Nassau and Freeport. Buses and taxis are also readily available, with taxis forming the main form of transport on the smaller islands. Jitneys (minibuses) provide inexpensive touring and operate in the hubs of Freeport and Nassau. Bicycles can be rented by the day or by the week at popular tourist centres and hotels.
