Weather
In general, Georgia experiences hot summers (May-September) and mild winters. It has a subtropical climate in the west (warm and humid), and a continental climate in the east. Heaviest rainfall exists in the subtropical southwest. Low temperatures are common in alpine areas.
In Tbilisi (elevation 490 m) in the centre-east of the country, average temperatures are at their lowest in January at 0°C (with a minimum of -3°C and a maximum of 4°C), and their highest in July/August, at 24°C (with a minimum of 18°C and a maximum of 28°C). Rainfall averages from 2 to 9 cm a month, with the greatest amounts falling in May and June (7 cm a month or more), with the least (3 cm a moth or less) falling from December to March.

Festivals
Each town celebrates the founding of the settlement; Tbilisoba, the largest celebration, held for the capital, takes place on 30 October.
