Local Media

The Warsaw Voice and the Warsaw Business Journal are both published weekly in English. Daily local-language papers include Gazeta Wyborcza, Dziennik, Rzeczpospolita and Super Express. There are also a number of weekly publications, such as Gazeta Polska, Newsweek Polska, Polityka and Wprost.

The public broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) operates two national networks (TV1 and TV2), regional services (under the umbrella label of TV3) and four speciality satellite or cable channels: TVP Kultura (high-brow culture), TVP Sport, TVP Historia and TV Polonia, which re-transmits selected TVP programming for the Polish diaspora. Poland also has a number of commercial TV operators, such as TVN, Cyfra+ and Polsat.

Public radio services are provided by Polish Radio, which operates many regional stations and the following 6 national networks:

  • Program 1 - easy listening
  • Program 2 - cultural
  • Program 3 - alternative, jazz and rock
  • Polskie Radio Bis - youth orientated and educational
  • Radio Parliament - parliament speeches
  • Polish Radio (formerly Radio Polonia) - external service

There are also many commercial stations available, such as Radio Zet, RMF FM and the controversial Catholic station Radio Maryja, which is run by Redemptorist Order and has been criticised by the Vatican.
