Internal Transport

Travel within Afghanistan is risky. There are some internal air services from Kabul, depending on political or military conditions. Although the country had over 22,000km (13,000 miles) of roads (some of which were paved) before the 2001 conflict, this network has largely been destroyed and the few roads that remain require 4x4 vehicles.

Some bus, trolleybus and taxi services have resumed in Kabul, but they are often unreliable due to the extensive destruction of vehicles and the infrastructure.
