Regions
Tajikistan consists of 4 administrative divisions: 2 provinces (viloyat) (Sughd and Khatlon), 1 autonomous province (Gorno-Badakhshan), and the Region of Republican Subordination (formerly known as Karotegin Province), as shown in the following table:

Each region is divided into districts (raion or nohija), which are further subdivided into jamoats, and then villages.
